If you decide you don’t want your in-game children anymore, you can make them disappear by dismissing them at the Dark Shrine of Selfishness in the Witch’s Hut as long as you have a Prismatic Shard, which is the cost of dismissal. In terms of gameplay and daily in-game life, dismissing your kids has no consequences. However, this choice can lead to some unusual events that might make you feel haunted by your past.
When you dismiss your child, they turn into a dove and fly off, which could imply that when you see a dove in this universe, there’s a chance that it’s an unwanted child.
The real mystery is when you watch the question mark channel on Spirit’s Eve. On-screen, your children, in the form of possessed dolls, warn you of the consequences of dismissing them. Then, if you go back to the Witch’s Hut, you can be attacked by a possessed doll.
7 Marnie & Lewis Need To Hide Their Relationship
Secret Love: Lewis, Marnie
It’s pretty obvious that Marnie and Lewis are secretly dating, especially when you take the quest to find Lewis’ purple shorts and find them in Marnie’s bedroom. At first, it’s not that odd that they choose to hide their relationship. It could be a new shift from how they previously interacted, or it could’ve been a short-term arrangement that you ended up being involved in when Lewis lost his shorts. At least, it seems that way until you happen upon them during a specific conversation.
During their six-heart event, you find Marnie and Lewis talking near the bushes by Lewis’ house. Marnie asks why they can’t go public with their relationship, and Lewis feels like it’ll undermine his authority, which leads us to the real mystery of why Lewis thinks it would cause any problems. It doesn’t make sense that dating Marnie would impact his authority, so there has to be some reason behind that idea, and we just don’t know what it is.
6 Who Is Abigail’s Real Father?
Abigail’s Parent Mystery
As you get to know the villagers, they start to tell you various pieces of information about their lives or their current concerns. Interestingly, some of these pieces of information create a bit of a scandal surrounding Abigail. Namely, her own parents seem to be uncertain of who her real father is, as it might not be Pierre. Pierre will even tell you that he doesn’t know if Abigail is his daughter because she doesn’t look anything like him.
Altogether, this leads us to the mystery of what the Wizard and Caroline’s relationship might’ve been in the past, why they broke up, and if Abigail is his daughter instead of Pierre’s.
Then, you add the comment that Caroline was involved with somebody other than Pierre, and Abigail tells you that she’s never dyed her hair but that its purple color is natural. The final piece of the puzzle is the Wizard, who has purple-ish hair, telling you he believes that one of the villagers is his daughter. Altogether, this leads us to the mystery of what the Wizard and Caroline’s relationship might’ve been in the past, why they broke up, and if Abigail is his daughter instead of Pierre’s.
5 Who Is Mr. Qi?
Unraveling Mr. Qi
This mystery revolves around the identity of Mr. Qi, who doesn’t seem to be human, or at least entirely human. He has blue skin, runs a casino, and gives you challenges to complete. Although you do quests from him, he has no friendship meter and won’t take gifts from you. At the same time, he seems to know what you’ve been doing even when you aren’t in his sight, which makes it appear like he has a way to watch you from a distance or other people reporting to him about what is happening.
However, there’s a possible answer to Mr. Qi’s identity, but it doesn’t make him any less mysterious. It’s heavily implied that aliens not only exist in this universe, but that they’ve also been to the valley. Given what we know of him, Mr. Qi being an alien actually makes the most sense.
4 Aliens Visit Your Farm
UFOs In Stardew Valley
Easter Eggs that you can find on Stardew долина‘s start screen and main menu show an alien or a UFO. It’s not unusual for Easter Eggs to be added just for fun without actually meaning anything in terms of the game’s lore. However, the lore of Stardew долина makes it seem like aliens exist in the in-game universe, and there’s a good chance that at least one has visited your farm.
There’s a random chance for you to find a Strange Capsule on your Stardew долина farm. You can’t do anything with it, but inspecting it tells you that something is floating in it. Days later, the capsule is broken, and you can spot a creature by the bus if you go to the stop that same day. It all comes together to make it look like aliens visited your farm and left an egg, but whether that’s definitively true — and if so, why they chose your farm — remains a mystery.
3 What Does Lewis Do With The Taxes?

We know that Lewis collects taxes from the people of the town, and it seems like the tax rate is quite high for some villagers. Usually, taxes are used to fund public projects, such as education and public transportation. In that case, it doesn’t make sense that Pelican Town is in the state that we saw it in at the beginning. The bus is broken down, and a lot of buildings are run down in general. However, Lewis is able to fund a lot of festivals.
At the least, Lewis should’ve used tax money to fix the bus, which would give Pam her job back and let the villagers travel outside the town. It’s strange that we don’t see him use taxes to reinvest in the town where the people who pay taxes live. Instead, he holds a lot of festivals and has an interest in impressing the governor, leading to the mystery regarding what his goal is and what he does with all the tax money.
2 The Mysterious Nature Of The Junimos
Junimo’s True Nature
The Junimos are the creatures living in the Community Center who are able to restore the town if you give them resources in the form of the bundles you complete in each room. As cute as they are, the Junimos themselves are a mystery of the town. There’s no explanation as to why they took up residence in the center or why they needed specific resources to fix areas of the town. The best answer would be in the realm of Junimos being nature spirits too weak to help without those resources.

You also find a lot of references to him in dialogue while you play, leading to the question of who and what this deity is. However, there aren’t any clear answers. This fits the narrative of an ancient guardian, since details tend to be lost to time, especially for topics like deities or ancient guardians that are passed down through legends.
We do learn a bit about Yoba from the villagers. However, what they say could be inaccurate, as there’s no way to back up claims on a topic like this. The image used on the sign is a real symbol that symbolizes the earth, which could make Yoba an earth deity, a fitting choice for a town with a lot of professions that rely on the earth. The most information you can find is from a book about Yoba in the museum’s library. Once you know the symbol, you can find references to Yoba everywhere.
There’s always a chance that cute and relaxing games can be filled with mysteries, but it’s nice that the ones you find in the valley tend to be harmless. Details like this make the world you explore feel like it’s alive, which adds to the overall immersion and gameplay experience. There might not be many big updates left at this time, but the existing mysteries make it worthwhile to take a new look at the world of Stardew долина.
